About Me

About Me

I was born in Manitoba, completed my teaching degree in Minnesota, and now live in Alberta. My training is in secondary education, with a specialty in English. I have my professional teaching certification in both Manitoba and Alberta and over 10 years of experience teaching all grades, with most of my contracts in high school English Language Arts (all levels, Grades 9 to 12).

I have taught Grade 12 (30-1 and 30-2) and participated in the Alberta diploma evaluation. In addition, my background includes spending a year as the head teacher at a conversational language institute in Nam Bundang, South Korea, participating in many school theatre productions, from small one-acts to big musical stage shows, and spending time in the non-profit and indigenous, oil and gas, EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction), financial, and legal industries, what some call “the real world”. In every experience, I have always found ways to “teach people how to fish” rather than “giving them a fish” – whether it is how to attach a file, edit their signature, or provide processing information while learning about the industries and people along the way. “Variety” is a strength of mine; yet, it is communication and people to which my heart always returns.
