I have long been interested in words. To be clear: English words. Their power, their influence, their creation, their inspiration. How we are molded and shaped by our understanding of words, how we experience the world around us with the constructs we create and concepts we imbue within words, and how we interact and communicate with others to develop relationships that last through time; this is all part of words and their power. “The Pen is mightier than the Sword” is more than an axiom – when the heart is moved, we change in ways that force cannot.

This website is my foray into discovering ways to share this love … for encouraging youth and their writing abilities, for developing communities of dreamers and creators, for creating a space for myself and sharing my journey in hopes that I might inspire you to search a bit more. It is my belief that the more we struggle with the words we use, the more we clarify what we believe and think, the more we can know ourselves and the world around us, and the more we can become more than we are.

As a certified English teacher, I come to the study and love of the written word honestly. And, of imminent concern are not only the stories within me that are crying to be born, but also the struggles our youth are going through in school, with writing and communicating. Clear writing is not easy, and just because someone can string words together (or get ChatGPT to do it instead) does not mean the person has a strong ability in the written word, full of analytical perspective and evaluation.
